The Future of Violence Prevention in NCFirearm Safety Pre-ConferenceTuesday, September 26, 2023Concord Embassy SuitesJoin us for this special, one-day pre-conference event dedicated to reducing violence-related injuries and deaths in North Carolina. The pre-conference will include national, state and local leaders discussing current and future work related to firearm injury prevention and safety. The afternoon will consist of rotating one-hour trainings or workshop sessions, including a CALM workshop (means reduction in clinical setting), a Stop the Bleed training (acute nonmedical emergency response), local violence prevention (Charlotte-Mecklenburg model), meeting the NC Office of Violence Prevention, starting a local community safety team workshop and NC-Violent Death Reporting System (NC-VDRS) sessions celebrating their 20 years of work. Speakers include: Secretary Kody Kinsley (NC DHHS), Dr. Betsey Tilson (State Health Director), Secretary Eddie Buffaloe (NC Dept of Public Safety), Dr. Gerard Tate, Dr. David Jacobs (Atrium Health), Dr. Alex Crosby (Morehouse), Dr. Phillip Graham (RTI), Prof. Philip Cook (Duke), Prof. Stephen Marshall (UNC), Dr. Susan Kansagra (DPH), Dr. Raynard Washington (Mecklenburg), Dr. Iulia Vann (Guilford), Rodney Jenkins (Durham), Uzuri Holder (Duke), Becky Ceartas (NCGV), Dr. Arthur Kellermann, Dr. Tamera Coyne-Beasley, to name a few.
