Bioterrorism Workshop

This intermediate-level program will focus on practical methods clinical laboratorians can use to recognize agents of bioterrorism.  Laboratory presentations and demonstrations will instruct the participants to recognize cultures, staining and biochemical characteristics of these agents.  The safety implications of handling suspected organisms in clinical isolates and cultures and toxins will be emphasized.  Procedures for referring suspect cases will be explained.

Continuing education contact hours will be awarded to all participants who successfully complete this program. The North Carolina State Laboratory of Public Health (NCSLPH) is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science P.A.C.E. ® Program.  Participants who successfully complete this program will be awarded 6.5 contact hours.

Seating is limited to the first paid 12 applicants.  Registration includes workshop materials, morning and afternoon refreshments, lunch and speaker handouts. Please adhere to relevant workshop and facilities information provided.

Registration and payment are due no later than .  If it is necessary to cancel or send a substitute to participate in the workshop, please notify Marion Alston at (919) 807-8765 as soon as possible.  If we do not receive notification of cancellation at least seven (7) business days prior to the workshop date, your facility will be billed for the cost of the workshop or fees will not be reimbursed for cancellations after the seven (7) business days deadline.
