Draft Agenda

The North Carolina Division of Public Health’s Epidemiology Section, Public Health Preparedness and Response (PHP&R) Branch produces the Annual NC Preparedness and Response Symposium for preparedness staff members, stakeholders, and partners that builds upon NC PHP&R’s priorities and mission to promote and protect the public’s health before, during, and after all-hazards events through an integrated public health preparedness system.

The Annual NC Preparedness and Response Symposium is the branches largest training event of the year that hosts preparedness and response staff from federal, state, and local agencies. The event provides program updates, training on industry-specific topics, and many professional development opportunities. The primary audience for the conference is the local Preparedness Coordinators and other local public health staff, in addition to local, state, and federal preparedness and response stakeholders and partners, including but not limited to:

  • Local and Tribal Health Departments/Districts
  • NC Department of Health and Human Services, NC Division of Public Health
  • NC Emergency Management
  • NC Healthcare Preparedness Program
  • NC Department of Agriculture, Division of Emergency Services
  • Hospital-based Public Health Epidemiologists
  • Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
  • Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region IV

Historically, this symposium has been hosted in cities throughout state and has covered a wide range of topics, including a 20th year celebration for PHP&R in 2023.
