Finance, Administration, Management Support, & Information Technology Section

Welcome Statement from the Chair

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for allowing me to serve as Chair of our section for the second year in a row. This past year at the Fall Educational Conference Governing Council meeting, I reported to the Council that our section had fallen below the required 25 members to continue as a section. Much discussion was had with debates for and against dissolving our section or making it a sub-section of another section. I brought these same concerns to our section business meeting. After listening to the wisdom of our retirees that were in attendance, as well as the enthusiasm of the current members, I agreed to serve a second term and help fight to maintain our section. I wondered why is our section fading? Why are we not the largest section of NCPHA? I’m asking you, as our fellow NCPHA members, why are you not joining our section? What changes need to occur for you to join us and become active in our section?

We have a strong group of officers this year and they will lead us forward and help our section grow.  I personally plan to form subcommittees to work on our membership recruitment and by-laws.

I challenge each of you to join our section and lend us your support. The next few years of Public Health will be a time of change and I believe we need each other now more than ever to provide leadership and encouragement to get us through the challenges.

Purpose

While we welcome everyone with open arms and warm smiles, our section is geared for members that typically work in the financial, administrative, management support or information technology fields.
