The purpose of the Emergency Preparedness and Response Section of NCPHA is to promote best practices and provide regular communication among practitioners in Emergency Preparedness within Public Health.

Improved collaboration and effective communication are intended to foster partnerships within public health to promote and protect the health of North Carolina residents by:

  • Creating an integrated public health preparedness system that is robust and scalable based on the event.
  • Being an expert, leader, and a resource for public health emergency preparedness.
  • Promoting the continuing training, education, and peer collaboration for public health emergency preparedness coordinators.
  • Contributing and identifying priorities and evidence-based practices to improve response during all-hazard events and build resilient communities.
  • Promoting programs and/or services necessary to prepare for, respond to and recover from all-hazard events and protect the health and safety for all North Carolina residents.
